Drafted in the 11th round (344th overall) by the Washington Nationals in 2015 (signed for $180,000).
View Draft Report
Lee went to Tennessee to be a two-way player, but it wasn't until this year that he was actually able to both hit and pitch. He was limited to hitting as a freshman as he recovered from Tommy John surgery and then only got six at bats his sophomore year while filling a key role in the Volunteers pitching staff. He proved he could handle both roles at once last summer in the Cape Cod League and carried that performance into the spring. Lee could go out either way, as he's shown some good power this season, but is more likely to get drafted as a pitcher. His 6-foot-5 frame helps him throw his low-90s fastball from a good downhill plane and he's shown an improved breaking ball this spring. He's also throwing with more command as he looks to have recovered his stuff following surgery.
