View Draft Report
Wilson has shown tantalizing arm strength since his junior-college days at Cypress (Calif.) JC, but he has been unable to harness his control in two years at UC Santa Barbara, posting a 5.16 ERA and a 27-18 strikeout-walk mark in 23 innings this spring. A fifth-year senior, he has a good frame (6-foot-4, 210 pounds) and a 90-94 mph fastball, although it is straight and gets hit when it is elevated. He flashes an above-average power curveball, but he struggles to locate his stuff consistently. When he falls behind in counts, situations get away from him in a hurry. Wilson is a good athlete, and his delivery works, so maybe pro instructors can help him unlock his potential.Someone could take a flier on him in the top 15 rounds.
