Bednar kept impressing scouts who came in to see the deep pool of talent at Florida Gulf Coast, which could have seven to 10 players drafted. Bednar has grown into his lanky 6-foot-4, 185-pound body, adding 20 pounds over three years in college. He has played all over the infield for the Eagles, settling in at second base but also playing third and shortstop this season. He has a plus arm and solid infield actions, and scouts consider him a good bet to be a future utility infielder as he can handle short. He's a better fit defensively at third but doesn't have profile power, with just two home runs in three seasons, though he shows bat speed and a solid line-drive swing. He's an average runner.
