Larkins missed fall ball and some of this spring recovering from surgery to remove bone spurs in his elbow. Upon his return, he slid between the rotation and the bullpen. He sat 88-93 mph this spring, with a power curveball being his best secondary offering. He's also toyed with a slider and throws a changeup, but both need refinement.

Draft Prospects
Larkins was a mainstay on the showcase circuit and performed well at numerous events. With a fastball up to 94 mph, a good curveball and a strong, durable build at 6-foot-2, 208 pounds, he has the makings of a mid-rotation starter. He has easy arm action and extension out front, in addition to downhill plane from a high three-quarters arm slot. His fastball has sink, run and average life when down in the zone. He has at least an average curveball that shows solid depth, and his changeup flashes average. While Larkins regularly touches 93-94 mph, his velocity tends to drop during starts, to the 87-89 range by the end of the game. He has a short stride and does not use his strong legs to the fullest extent in his upright delivery. That prompts scouts to project him in the bullpen long-term. Larkins is committed to Texas A&M.
