Drafted in the 5th round (163rd overall) by the Atlanta Braves in 2013 (signed for $140,000).
View Draft Report
Reynolds planned to sign with the Yankees last year as a 20th-round pick, but a physical revealed a stress fracture in his right elbow and resulted in a lower bonus offer, so he returned to Texas A&M. He had two screws inserted into the bone to heal the fracture and showed no ill effects this year. He'll be an attractive senior option as a middle infielder with on-base ability. A 5-foot-10, 170-pound righthanded hitter, Reynolds focuses on making contact and doesn't offer much in the way of power. He has excellent instincts on the bases, so his solid speed plays up. While his arm and range don't stand out at shortstop, he has a chance to stick there as a pro because he has reliable hands and unloads his throws quickly. If he has to move, his versatility and energy could make him a utilityman. Reynolds started his college career at St. Mary's (Calif.) and was an Orioles 30th-round pick in 2011 out of Paradise Valley (Ariz.) CC.
