Four outfielders on the North Florida team at the Florida Diamond Club last fall looked like potential premium picks: Matt Railey, Austin Murphy, Justin Smith and Cooley. Railey has solidified his status, while the others have not. Cooley, who has a well-rounded set of tools, has battled an ankle injury this spring and has not performed with the bat. He has above-average bat speed but has struggled to make contact against secondary stuff. The 6-foot-1, 197-pounder has a strong build that doesn't offer much projection, but he could have above-average power with increased contact. He has average to above-average speed, and his defensive instincts give him a chance to play in center field. He has at least an average arm. Cooley's athleticism intrigues, but a year at Chipola (Fla.) JC could reestablish his value.
