The Canadian Shaw passed on signing with the Brewers as a 38th round pick out of high school in 2012. He's enjoyed two strong years at Midland (Texas) JC, hitting .375/.461/.682 with 12 homers this spring, living up to his billing as a bat-first catcher. Power remains his best tool, but his defense has made some progress since getting to Midland, even if only through sheer reps. He does have the tools to be a solid catcher, and scouts like his work ethic. Shaw's signed to play Division I ball for Oklahoma.
