BA Grade/Risk: 40/High
Track Record: A swing change made in-season during 2021 catapulted Julks to the cusp of the major leagues in 2022 and changed the trajectory not only of his swing but of his career. On June 29, 2021, Julks was placed on the Astros; developmental list. After two weeks of work in Florida to try to unlock his power, he returned to Corpus Christi. Before that work in the cage, Julks has averaged a home run every 73 plate appearances. Since his developmental list stint, Julks has averaged a home run every 19 plate appearances.
Scouting Report: After a swing change revitalized his profile, Julks has been one of the more well-rounded players in the Astros' upper minors. He's an above-average contact hitter with an average approach who shows the ability to limit strikeouts and get on base at a fringe-average rate. His power now plays above-average and it's backed by exit velocity data above the major league average. He has above-average speed and baserunning ability and can handle any of the outfield positions but is best fit for a corner.
The Future: Julks is a ready-made fourth outfielder who can fill in situationally off of the bench.
Scouting Grades: Hit: 45. Power: 50. Run: 55. Field: 45. Arm: 45.
