Nordlin dominated the wood-bat Arizona junior college circuit this spring, leading the league in strikeouts with 123 in 85 innings. Moreover, he walked just 17, and command is his calling card, thanks to a repeatable delivery and good extension from his 6-foot-4 frame. He's a three-pitch righthander who can locate his fastball anywhere and pitches at 88-91 mph with some sink. He gets swings and misses on his fastball, changeup and slurvy slider against JC competition, but scouts grade the secondary pitches as fringe-average pitches and the heater as average. Nordlin ran out of gas a bit late and lacks a plus pitch, but his command could make him a future fifth starter.
