Gavin Tonkel

Tonkel wasn’t considered a draft prospect throughout his senior season at Heritage (Brentwood, Calif.) High just outside of San Francisco, but he impressed in scout ball after the season to earn some late attention in the weeks leading up to the draft. Tonkel is a tall, lanky outfielders who has tools but requires a lot of projection. He moves well for his size and has potential above-average raw power in the future, but he didn’t hit a single home run for his high school team this spring. He is a long-term project with a short track record and will require many years of development in the minors. He is committed to Sacramento State.
