Draft Prospects
Holtmann has power potential as a big-bodied lefthander at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds. He pitched almost exclusively in relief in his first two seasons, pitching just 61 innings, before getting six starts for the Seminoles in 2014. He couldn't hold up under the starting load, though, coming down with arm soreness, and he tweeted April 28 that his MRI showed a forearm strain, clouding his draft status. He had Tommy John surgery as a prep senior, and he didn't pitch the rest of the season for the Seminoles after that April update. When he was healthy, Holtmann was a power arm, pitching in the 90-92 mph range with his fastball. He also has a cutter, changeup and curveball, and the cutter had made the most progress this spring.
