Track Record: Redmond was signed for $3,000 in the 32nd round of the 2019 draft out of Gardner-Webb after hitting .309/.412/.660 with 18 home runs his senior season with the Bulldogs. He reached Double-A Springfield in his first full professional season, hitting a combined .259/.354/.474 with 18 home runs and 20 doubles.
Scouting Report: A barrel chested, broad shouldered slugger, Redmond has developed at the plate over the last two seasons, first as a lefthanded slugger with a three true outcomes profile to a more refined power hitter with multi-positional flexibility defensively. While he' s neither rangy or athletic, Redmond is an instinctual defender with good actions who can handle second and third base, but his long-term position lies at first base due to his limited range. He boasts some of the best exit velocity data in the Cardinals system with the ability to barrel up consistently. He' s cut his in-zone whiff substantially year over year, and has shown noticeable improvements to his approach.
The Future: Due to heavy strong-side platoon splits, Redmond looks the part of a part-time player at first base. His ability to hit for power and measurable improvements since turning pro leave some hope that Redmond can develop into a second division regular type or power-hitting platoon DH.
