A two-way player at Houston earlier in his career who played first base and in the outfield in addition to pitching, Lockhart focused solely on pitching in his lone year at Arkansas. A very experienced college player, Lockhart has played in 177 games as a hitter and another 46 as a pitcher. Lockhart’s lone year at Arkansas was somewhat hit and miss. After serving as Houston’s Friday starter in 2020, Lockhart was used in short stints as a starter in 2021. He only worked five-plus innings in four of his 14 starts. The lefty sat 88-90 mph this year, although he would touch 93-94 sometimes early in outings. He spots his fastball well, showing the ability to spot glove side down and away from lefties and down and in on righthanded hitters. He mixes in a slider, curveball and changeup, although none of them are above-average. Lockhart is already 23 years old and is a potential senior sign.
