Schiefelbein is a lean and lanky lefthander with a 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame and some of the best command in the prep class. He works with a loose and easy delivery on the mound and throws from a high three-quarters slot with a bit of a fall-off to the third base side. Schiefelbein throws his fastball in the 89-92 mph range and will occasionally touch 93-94, but his fastball is more impressive because of his ability to command the pitch than its pure power. Like his fastball, Schiefelbein has shown touch and feel with each of his secondaries, which include a slider around 80 mph, a curveball in the mid 70s—which is probably his best breaking pitch at the moment—and a changeup around 80 mph. Schiefelbein went to his curveball most consistently over the summer showcase circuit in 2023, and the pitch has solid depth that could pair nicely with a fastball that he likes to use at the top of the zone when both pitches add more power. While Schiefelbein does have some of the more advanced pitching ability in the class, scouts will need to project on his stuff across the board. Because of that, some clubs might feel better letting him get to campus at UCLA and developing at school.
