Horan ranked as BA's No. 30 prospect in the Cape Cod League last summer and has been a key offensive contributor, along with third baseman Chad Pinder, to Virginia Tech's success this season. Though nothing he does looks pretty, he has produced and was batting .344/.392/.625 with 11 home runs in 54 games. Horan offers some of the best raw power in the East, as the ball jumps off his bat, but he does have holes in his swing. He is an average runner who has stiff actions, so he'll be limited to left field or first base. He will benefit from good performances in front of crosscheckers and scouting directors who have gone in to see Pinder.
