Drafted in the 14th round (425th overall) by the Cincinnati Reds in 2014 (signed for $135,000).
View Draft Report
Ehret arrived at UCLA as project, and he logged just 3 1/3 innings as a redshirt freshman in 2013. He took a step forward this year, emerging as a useful bullpen piece by going 1-0, 2.25 in 20 innings over 23 appearances. Ehret has a durable, physical 6-foot-3, 201-pound frame, a sound delivery, and a live arm that produces 93-95 mph heat, though he works more at 91-93 when he makes repeat appearances in a weekend. He has the makings of a second plus pitch in his 83-85 power slider, but his command and control remain well below-average to below-average, and scouts question his confidence level and aptitude. But he stands a good chance to be drafted inside the top 10 rounds as a power bullpen arm.
