Soto was the starting catcher for Team USA's 18-and-under squad in 2010 that also featured future first-round picks Albert Almora, Francisco Lindor, Bubba Starling and Blake Swihart. Soto, however, added bad weight during his senior year of high school and went undrafted. He's now a draft-eligible sophomore at Pittsburgh and has tightened up his 6-foot, 200-pound frame. He is a solid prospect who will get pushed up draft boards as a college catcher who should stick behind the plate. His arm is adequate and he shows good receiving skills, but he can get lazy and box some balls when the bases are empty. He is an average hitter at best, though he shows solid pop from both sides of the plate. He was hitting .316/.417/.523 with six home runs in 52 games.
