Track Record: Rojas signed for just $10,000 during the 2021 international signing period out of Venezuela. Over his two seasons in the Blue Jays system, Rojas has blossomed into one of the most intriguing lower minors pitchers. He made his professional debut over the summer of 2021 in the Dominican Summer League and struck out 27 batters over 21.1 innings and recorded seven saves in eight opportunities. He made his stateside debut in 2022 in the Florida Complex League, where he made seven appearances with 31 strikeouts and just six walks across 29.2 innings. He was promoted to Low-A Dunedin in August and four appearances for the Blue Jays.
Scouting Report: An undersized right handed with a longer arm action and a low, three-quarters slot, Rojas utilizes an easy operation with a whippy fast arm and four-pitch mix. His pitch mix consists of a four-seam fastball that sits 93-95 mph and touches 96 mph at peak with heavy armside run; a low-80s slider with moderate sweep; a mid-80s changeup that is his best bat-missing pitch; and a low-80s curveball with more depth than his slider. He shows at least average command across his pitch mix, and his fastball command borders on plus.
The Future: Rojas is a projectable starting pitching prospect with the ability to land all four of his pitches for strikes with at least average power and movement.
Scouting Grades: Fastball: 55. Curveball: 45. Slider: 45. Changeup: 50. Control: 50.
