  Early on in the summer showcase process, Johnson looked like a potential early round pick. He showed smooth actions at shortstop, showed solid-average speed and performed well offensively against quality prep pitching. Johnson's summer was a bit up and down, but many evaluators believed he could stick at shortstop and they'd live with his limited power production. He was ruled academically ineligible this spring due to an issue with his summer coursework, and had to play travel baseball instead of playing for his high school team. Some scouts weren't enthusiastic about his spring production and question whether he's mature enough to handle professional baseball out of high school. He is committed to Georgia.
