View Draft Report
Johnson made an immediate impact as a freshman at Sam Houston State, hitting .310 while leading the team with 16 stolen bases. But Johnson wasn't satisfied, so he decided to pick up switch-hitting before his sophomore season. Hitting from the left side almost immediately clicked and it let him take even more advantage of his plus-plus speed. Johnson is a slap hitter from either side with near bottom-of-the-scale power--he has three home runs in three years at Sam Houston State. But he knows how to take a walk or a hit-by-pitch to get on base, and once he's there, he's an aggressive and successful basestealer. Johnson's speed plays equally well in the outfield where he is a plus center fielder with an average arm.
