Drafted in the 11th round (317th overall) by the Colorado Rockies in 2015 (signed for $250,000).
View Draft Report
Zimmerman made headlines this spring when he threw a no-hitter and a perfect game in back-to-back starts for Gulf Coast High. As good as he is now, scouts expect him to be even better in a few years once he grows into his long, lanky 6-foot-3 frame and adds a bit more velocity. His fastball was mostly in the mid 80s with tailing life early in the spring, but he got it up to 88-89 at the all-star series in Sebring in late May. His curveball and changeup both show the makings of future average offerings. He throws strikes with all three pitches and creates some deception, making it difficult for hitters to get a good look at the ball. Zimmerman is committed to Florida.
