Kent is a 6-foot-3, 219-pound lefthander and redshirt sophomore with a four-pitch mix who has taken a step forward as a full-time starter for Arizona in 2024. He posted a 4.08 ERA over 86 innings and 15 starts this spring with a 23.9% strikeout rate and 7.3% walk rate. After sitting in the upper 80s in 2023 as a split-starter, Kent’s fastball was up about three ticks in 2024 and he sat in the 90-92 mph range and touched 95-96. He has a three-pitch trio of secondaries, led by a low-80s changeup that is his most used and most consistent swing-and-miss secondary. The lefty will also mix in a low-to-mid-80s slider and slow downer curveball in the mid 70s. Kent’s delivery features some effort and moving parts, including an overhead windup and a high leg kick with a coiling action at his balance point before unfurling and firing to the plate. He has always shown solid control, pitchability and competitiveness on the mound and has the sort of pitch mix to profile as a back-end starter.
