School: Kansas State
Commit/Drafted: Never Drafted
Age at Draft: 22.0
Wentworth is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound righthander who didn’t pitch in his redshirt 2022 season and then made a significant jump with his strikeout rate from 2023 to 2024. He posted a 4.18 ERA through 75.1 innings as a starter and reliever with a 34.4% strikeout rate, compared to a 17% strikeout rate in 2023, and 7.1% walk rate. Wentworth has a deep mix of five pitches including a 90-94 mph fastball that touches 96, a mid-80s changeup, an upper-80s cutter, a mid-80s slider and a low-80s curveball. The slider and curveball don’t have significant velocity separation but the curve does have a power hard 12-to-6 shape while the slider is a short-breaking pitch with less depth that occasionally looks like his cutter. Wentworth has impressive feel to land his entire arsenal for strikes and has been a solid strike thrower in his two years with Kansas State.
