Shojinaga is a 5-foot-10, 190-pound converted catcher who has played second base for Kansas and has been a high-contact and on-base machine for the program for two seasons. Shojinaga led Kansas with a .378 average and .421 on-base percentage as a true freshman in 2023. He hit .418 in conference play to lead all Big 12 hitters and set a program record for a freshman batting average. Unsurprisingly given those numbers, Shojinaga is a contact hitter who will spray the gaps for doubles and use the entire field, and walks nearly as much as he strikes out. He lacks power but is a fine defender at second. Shojinaga’s history as a catcher could intrigue teams at the next level, though he’s spent most of his time at second and third base in college.
