View Draft Report
Young has one of the sweetest swings in the draft, and it might propel him into the third round. A lefthanded hitter, he has good feel for the strike zone and for using the whole field. He gets on base via line drives, walks and hit by pitches, and once there he uses his solid speed and instincts to create havoc. The only drawback to his offensive game is that at 5-foot-10 and 178 pounds, he doesn't project to have much power with wood bats. Young has played the last two seasons at third base for the Cardinals out of necessity, but he profiles at second base, his primary position as a freshman. He moves well and has solid arm strength, though he has been a bit erratic at the hot corner.
