White was not a regular on the showcase circuit, and his prospect stock began to pick up steam after he showed intriguing tools at the East Coast Professional Showcase in August. He is raw, but scouts can dream on his projection. White is an exceptional athlete, with plus-plus speed being his most potent tool. He runs the 60-yard dash in 6.4 seconds and knows how to use his speed on the basepaths. He has fringy arm strength and below-average bat speed, though scouts project him to add strength as he fills in his wide, sloped shoulders. White has some feel at the plate, though he'll have to cut down on his swing-and-miss issues and develop an approach more conducive to his tools when he reaches the next level. He earns good marks for his makeup and coachability, leading scouts to believe in his projection. White is committed to East Carolina, though scouts believe he is signable.

White was drafted out of tiny Greenfield School--which had never had a player drafted and then had two popped in 2015. He is a super athletic player with plus-plus speed. One scout compared him to Royals burner Terrence Gore. But White is very raw as a ballplayer. He lacks polish and will need plenty of at-bats to stabilize his approach. He was not accustomed to facing top-notch pitching as an amateur and will have to continue to make adjustments at the plate. White does not recognize pitches well and generally needs a hitting approach. Scouts are split on his bat speed, with one rating it as top-of-the-scale but another saying it was just average. He has the raw speed to outrun mistakes in the outfield but doesn't take charge in center field. Still, White earns good marks for his makeup and coachability, leading scouts to believe patience is necessary for him to reach his projection.
Never had private Greenfield High in Wilson, N.C., had a player drafted prior to 2015, and then it happened twice. White and fellow outfielder Dwanya Sutton were both East Carolina commits, with Sutton (an unsigned 26th-rounder of the Reds) deciding to head to ECU while White signed with the Marlins, receiving the full third-round slot value of $698,100. White is a raw, explosive natural athlete with premium 80-grade speed on the 20-80 scouting scale. As a runner, he glides to steal bases and has enough instincts to stay in center field. He lacks polish and will need plenty of at-bats, but White has tremendous bat speed that one club official compared with that of former Marlins all-star Gary Sheffield. He didn't see a lot of quality pitching as an amateur and will have to continue to make adjustments at the plate, especially relating to breaking balls. White has some present strength and raw power potential. His arm is below-average, though it could improve with cleaner mechanics. Despite his rawness, he has good game awareness and a good internal clock. White earns good marks for his makeup and coachability, leading scouts to project him more favorably. He's a lottery ticket who may need a second year in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League in 2016.
