Rose set Utah's single-season strikeouts record in 2016, using a changeup that earned some 70 grades from scouts. He struck out 106 in 109 innings while leading the Utes to their first Pacific-12 Conference championship. Rose got off to a tough start this season, using his changeup too much, but the 6-foot, 180-pounder righted the ship a bit in Pac-12 play. He''s at his best when he locates his 89-93 mph fastball and change and can throw his fringy slider and curveball for early-count strikes. Rose, whose brother Josh is a senior outfielder on the Utes, has the repeatable delivery to be a back-end starter but may fit better as a long reliever.
