Haggard began his college career as a walk-on quarterback at Mississippi, but didn't play in two seasons before transferring to Meridian (Miss.) CC to play baseball. He then moved on to Delta State (Miss.), where he worked out of the bullpen for the last two years. Haggard can run his fastball into the low 90s at his best, but doesn't pitch with much control (he averaged 5.63 walks per nine in two years at Delta State). Though he's a 23-year-old senior, Haggard hasn't pitched much because of his football background.
