Drafted in the 13th round (383rd overall) by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2017 (signed for $200,000).
View Draft Report
An apprentice behind now Dodgers' catcher Will Smith in his first two years at Louisville, Fitch moved into the starting role this year and provided power (11 doubles and 11 home runs) and adequate defense. Catching a staff of future pro pitchers has given scouts many opportunities to see how Fitch handles velocity. He's not a polished, smooth receiver, but he has shown improvement as he's caught more regularly. He moves well, but still has work to do improve his hands. He projects as a 40 or 45 defender behind the plate with an average arm. At the plate, Fitch's pull-heavy approach makes him vulnerable to being pitched to on the outer half, but he does have the above-average raw power to punish pitchers who get into his wheelhouse. He projects as a future backup catcher.
