The buzz around Walters State practices this spring was positive, and for good reason. Sophomore first baseman Justin Pickett is a better pure hitter than freshman third baseman Stephen Shults, though Shults hammered more than 20 home runs and has a better body. Pickett has a good approach, showing patience, pitch recognition and a feel for the strike zone.
