Parrish was a late-round find after an outstanding all-around athletic career in high school. He was an all-league pitcher and outfielder, and he also played football and wrestled. He has established himself as a legitimate pitching prospect and made it all the way to the big leagues in 2000, striking out the side against the Yankees in his first major league start, when he took a loss against Roger Clemens. Parrish has a strong arm for a lefthander, throwing in the low 90s, and has become a potential big leaguer because he has a full repertoire with three solid major league pitches, including a hard breaking ball. He has a quick, snappy arm with a delivery that's hard for batters to pick up, and he has consistent mechanics. His command comes and goes, however, and he needs it to be effective. Parrish could make the big league bullpen as a lefty specialist if he doesn't go back to Triple-A.
