Bowers bounced back with a solid effort as a swingman in Triple-A last year. Used primarily as a starter early in his career, he did a good job of pitching extensively out of the bullpen for the first time and reestablished himself as a potential situational lefty for the Devil Rays. Bowers has always piled up strikeouts in the minor leagues by employing one of the best curveballs in the organization. He prevents hitters from making solid contact by mixing the curve with an average fastball and a modest changeup. His albatross has been his control, which is what stands between him and a big league job. He could get a callup this year if he can throw strikes on a regular basis.
