Frank Viola

Outstanding lefthander from St. John’s who compiled perfect 10-0 record this season, with 0.87 ERA. He was 10-1, 2.16 a year ago as a sophomore. Viola was winning pitcher in NCAA Northeast regional game against Yale, in which Ron Darling threw his heralded no-hitter against St. John’s for 11 innings only to lose 1-0 in 12th. He was a second-round draft choice of Minnesota this spring and has since signed with the Twins.
