Herr has been well schooled by his father, former major leaguer Tommy Herr. He is a pure hitter who already makes adjustments at the plate that normally only mature pro hitters make. He hit .418-6-23 this year. He lacks the speed and range desired in a shortstop and likely will follow in his dad's footsteps at second base.
