Roneberg has received valuable experience with the Australian national team, joining the team for the Sydney Olympics as well as the World Cup in Taiwan. Those assignments added more polish to a swing that is among the more advanced in the system. Roneberg is a late developer with deceptive power and an excellent grasp of the strike zone. He hangs in well against lefthanders and uses the whole field. He is learning to turn on inside pitches. He reminds some of Jim Eisenreich, another unimposing lefty hitter with below-average speed who made solid contact. Roneberg gets in trouble sometimes by taking too many pitches. He's a good two-strike hitter and enjoys working counts but could stand to show more aggressiveness on get-ahead fastballs. He has a right fielder's arm and has proven competent in left and at first base. He projects as a valuable fourth outfielder in the majors.
