Steen piqued scouts interest on the showcase circuit last summer with a loose, quick arm and very projectable body. He has been tough to see this spring because he led his basketball team deep into the state playoffs, limiting his time on the mound. While his velocity was in the mid-80s at time this spring, he was up to 92 on the showcase circuit. He is an above-average athlete with a lean build and long limbs who could take off once he puts on significant weight. Steen shows the ability to cut his fastball at times while getting at least average sink others. His inconsistent curveball shows at least average potential with downer tilt. Steen's changeup flashes average. Age is on Steen's side, as he won't turn 18 until a month after the draft.
