Perez helped Grand Canyon reach the Division II College World Series in 2013, then tossed a two-hit shutout to help Corvallis win the West Coast Collegiate League title last summer. Poised for a big spring as Grand Canyon returned to Division I play, he posted just a 1-6 record through April before he had to leave a start with shoulder tendinitis. He returned to the mound a month later to pick up a save against Utah Valley and show scouts he was still healthy. Before the injury, Perez projected to be selected around the 10th round and profiled as a future reliever. He's a 6-foot-2, 205-pound sinkerballer who has topped out at 92-93 mph, usually sitting 87-90 as a starter. His fastball has good sink though not exceptional. His changeup has good tumble and generally earns above-average grades. Perez's breaking ball is below-average.
