Penilla had a dominant sophomore year this spring, going 6-3, 2.39 with 96 strikeouts and 32 walks in 90 innings. At 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, he has a quick arm and plenty of competitiveness. He works at 88-90 mph and flashes an average curveball when he stays on top of it, but he has a tendency to cast the pitch at times. He also mixes in an adequate changeup. Penilla lacks upside, but his feel for pitching and solid fastball and curve give him a chance to carve out a pro future as a reliever.
