Drafted in the 10th round (307th overall) by the Los Angeles Angels in 2013 (signed for $5,000).
View Draft Report
A Cape Cod League all-star last summer, Gordon got off to a rocky start in 2013 because he slowed down his delivery and lost command of his pitches, especially his curveball. He got back on track in April and has dealt ever since. He has added fastball velocity as a senior, often working at 90-93 mph, though his curveball is still his best pitch. His changeup is also an asset, and his slider gives him a fourth pitch he can throw for strikes. Because he's 6 feet and 180 pounds, he profiles as a reliever despite his deep arsenal, but he has the resilient arm and competitive nature to move quickly.
