Drafted in the 16th round (493rd overall) by the Atlanta Braves in 2013.

Swanner emerged as Pepperdine's closer last year, posting a 2.96 ERA with eight saves. He was even better as a junior this spring, recording a 1.50 ERA and 14 saves as well as a 26-9 strikeout-walk mark in 24 innings. At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Swanner has proven durable enough to work on back-to-back days, despite a checkered medical history that gives scouts pause. He's an aggressive strike-thrower who attacks hitters with an 88-93 mph fastball with sink and run, and it plays up because of the deception in his three-quarters delivery. His slider rates as fringy to average, giving him a second weapon. If he stays healthy, Swanner could make his way to the big leagues as a reliever.
