Drafted in the 8th round (251st overall) by the Oakland Athletics in 2013 (signed for $100,000).
View Draft Report
The Tigers drafted Marincov, who was also a prep quarterback, in the 48th round out of a Florida high school in 2010. He decided to go to North Florida instead and immediately stepped into the starting lineup. He hit nine home runs as a sophomore and 13 more last summer in the Northwoods League and has put North Florida into the NCAA regional discussion with a strong junior season, ranking among Atlantic Sun Conference leaders in several offensive categories including first in stolen bases (20). The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder has an intriguing power/speed combination, though none of his tools grades out as a true plus. He runs well for his size and has a slightly above-average arm, helping him fit the right-field profile defensively. His stock would be higher if he tapped into his raw power more consistently. At the plate his swing can get long, and his power has been consistently to the gaps rather than over the fence; he had six triples and 18 doubles this season but just five home runs.
