Drafted in the 18th round (536th overall) by the New York Mets in 2013.

McMinn headed to Pacific from a Texas high school, then transferred to Cisco (Texas) JC as a sophomore before winding up at Nevada. He has shown one of the liveliest arms in the West--when scouts were able to see it. College relievers are tricky enough to get good looks at, and McMinn got into just six games for the Wolf Pack. He wasn't hurt, he was just low in the pecking order. When he did pitch, McMinn threw his fastball in the 94-97 mph range and mixed in a power curveball. McMinn has an athletic, 6-foot-2, 195-pound build, a fresh arm and a good work ethic. Teams that liked what they saw may grab him because some scouts said that he could have been popped in the top three rounds if he had more exposure.
