As he explained to his hometown paper, the Quincy Herald Whig, when Polak was in eighth grade, he was accidentally placed in the wrong hitting group, which meant he found himself hitting against A.J. Puk among others. After surviving that experience, Polak realized he might have a future in the game. The big (6-foot-5, 225 pound) third baseman will have to work on his agility to stay one the left side of the infield at the next level, whether that is at South Carolina or in pro ball. Polak has shown plus raw power and he started to tap into it a little more in games this spring.
