Poche was a fifth-round pick of the Orioles out of high school, but he turned Baltimore down to head to Arkansas. After two solid seasons with the Razorbacks, Poche transferred to Dallas Baptist, sat out a year, then returned to action this year to serve as the ace of Dallas Baptist's staff. Poche has a long track record of success, but his stuff has not taken the step forward scouts had hoped for when he was in high school. Poche is a lefty with feel, excellent extension and control, which allows him to not only survive but thrive with an 85-89 mph fastball, a low-80s slider and a changeup. None can grade out as more than fringe-average to average, but Poche's extension allows them to play up.
