Bacon posted video game numbers out of the bullpen for Santa Fe JC this season. In 40 innings, he posted a 1.35 ERA, striking out 64 and walking 13. Scouts were split on his offspeed stuff, but they all loved his 93-98 mph fastball. Some see his changeup as a future plus pitch, while others envision his his breaking ball developing into an above-average pitch. He could some day throw in the triple digits, and he may get a chance to start as a professional, but he has effort in his delivery and most scouts think he'll ultimately be a reliever.

Draft Prospects
Bacon began his college career at Florida, but transferred after the fall to Santa Fe (Fla.) JC. He piled up 59 strikeouts and 15 saves in 44 innings this spring, but most importantly Bacon showed improved velocity. After throwing his fastball 88-92 mph coming out of high school, he worked in the mid 90s at Santa Fe. He also works in a promising breaking ball and changeup. Bacon served as the Saints closer this spring, and earns praise for his competiveness. He is likely to remain as a reliever at the next level.
