Vieaux arrived on campus as a walk-on with a fastball that struggled to break 80. After a redshirt year and plenty of work, he pitched his way into the Spartans' weekend rotation during his redshirt freshman season and has remained there ever since. Vieaux is your typical polished college lefty without a truly plus pitch but plenty of success because of pitch selection, control and a varied assortment of offerings. A 19th-round pick of the Tigers last year as a red-shirt sophomore, Vieaux should hear his name called significantly earlier this year. Vieaux sits 87-91 mph but will touch a little higher. His changeup is an average offering and his slider will flash fringe-average as well. He also throws an early count curveball to try to get ahead. Vieaux struggled down the stretch for Michigan State, getting chased before the fifth in three consecutive starts, but he recovered to shut down Nebraska in the Big 10 tournament, exiting one out short of a complete-game win with a blister on his throwing hand.
