View Draft Report
Wilson doesn't have a standout tool other than his above-average raw power, but he has the potential to be an offensive utility type at the next level. A third baseman for two years at Clemson, he moved to second base this spring, and though he's not an exceptional defender, he handled the position capably, making a couple of diving grabs in the ACC tournament with several scouts in attendance. Wilson has a strong, physical 6-foot-3, 210-frame, but there's still room for projection, and he could tap into more power as he develops.

At 6-foot-4, 175 pounds, Wilson looks the part, with long limbs and broad shoulders and room to add strength. He attends the same high school that produced Rays outfield prospect Wil Myers and had some helium this spring before sending a letter to scouts saying he planned to honor his commitment to Clemson. While scouts like Wilson, most say he'll benefit from going the college route because he is raw and only his power potential stands out right now. He plays shortstop now but will have to move in either college or pro ball. He lacks range but comes in on balls well, so he'll probably get a chance to stick at third base. Otherwise he'll have options at first base or the corner outfield spots.
