Drafted in the 11th round (346th overall) by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2016 (signed for $200,000).
View Draft Report
As a draft-eligible sophomore in 2015, Kilichowski made it clear that he was not interested in signing professionally, and he did not sign after being picked by the Cubs in the 39th round. In a return to Vanderbilt for his junior season, Kilichowski battled injuries and inconsistency, and posted a 5.06 ERA over a meager 27 innings. At his best, Kilichowski commands a fastball that sits at 88-91 mph and mixes in an above-average changeup that shows exceptionally late fade. He has also thrown a low 80s slider and an upper 70s curveball. Kilichowski could be back for his senior year, as he is unlikely to get a high bonus after his poor season.

Kilichowski pitched well in a limited role out of Vanderbilt's bullpen as a freshman last year, helping the Commodores win their first ever national championship. He's largely been a starter this season, both in the weekend rotation and in midweek action. Listed at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Kilichowski has a good pitcher's frame and a chance to have three average-or-better offerings. He effectively mixes his 88-92 mph fastball with a curveball and a changeup. Kilichowski works around the strike zone with all three offerings and has some pitchability. He's a draft-eligible sophomore and is likely to figure prominently into Vanderbilt's 2016 staff if he does return for his junior year.
