Age At Draft: 21.1
Strickland is a solidly-built, 6-foot-2, 210-pound righthander who has mostly pitched out of Kentucky’s bullpen for three seasons. He has a few spot starts under his belt, and started three games in the Cape Cod League in 2022 during a strong summer, but has mostly been a solid multi-inning reliever. In the 2023 season, Strickland posted a 5.04 ERA in 55.1 innings, with a 24.3% strikeout rate and 8.4% walk rate. He has a well-controlled delivery and attacks with a three-quarters slot, mainly pitching off a fastball/curveball/slider trio. His fastball sits in the 93-94 mph range and has been up to 97, with lots of sinking life and has helped him drive a ground ball rate north of 50%. He mixes in an upper-70s curveball and low-80s slider, and the two pitches can blend together at times, but he’s shown solid feel to land both for strikes. He’ll occasionally mix in a mid-80s changeup as well, but has less feel for the pitch and used it less than 5% of the time this spring.
