Draft Prospects
A consistent presence in Cal's rotation, as well as on any list of "most distinctive hair in college baseball" thanks to his combination Mohawk/mullet, the 6-foot-7 Mason isn't flashy. He pitches downhill with sink with a fairly vanilla 88-90 mph fastball that occasionally bumps higher, and his slider and changeup are geared toward getting ground ball outs. He throws low strikes and didn't allow a home run in 99 innings through regional play, but also had an extremely low strikeout rate (3.7 K/9). He'll need to find a way to miss more bats as a pro, but his sinkerball tendencies and durability could still get him drafted.
